FAQs

  • A Holistic Nutritionist is a healthcare professional who works with individuals, groups, and communities to promote healthy eating and lifestyle habits and provides specific guidance on how to do so.

Health is more than just diet and exercise. There are many ways that we humans need to fill our cup to feel happy, balanced and whole. While a Holistic Nutritionist specializes in the field of nutrition, she also addresses other areas in her work (relationships, fulfillment in career, sleep quality, interconnectedness, stress levels, mental health, etc.). The ultimate goal is to help the client improve his/her total body health, happiness and wellbeing.

  • A Registered Dietitians (RD) typically offers dietary guidance on medical conditions such as high blood pressure, cancer and diabetes. They provide structured meal plans intended to improve these conditions while controlling for certain factors such as calorie counts and sodium intake. RDs often work in more clinical settings such as hospitals and doctors’ offices.

Many RDs are focused on numbers and calculations, whereas Holistic Nutritionists (while still science-based) asses progress based on subjective measurements such as how the client is feeling. They promote for intuitive eating and living, help improve the client’s relationship with food and his/her body, and teach him/her how to rebuild trust with food.

Holistic Nutritionists work in many different settings (online and in-person) and while sessions are often centered around food and nutrition, their work goes far beyond diet. Topics of discussion might also include (but are not limited to): sleep, stress, exercise, relationships, career and mental health.

Holistic Nutritionists, who promote for lifestyle change, believe that true nourishment, fulfillment and happiness comes from many different aspects of life (beyond just diet), and until ALL areas are balanced, symptoms and struggles will persist.
